Inshore or Offshore Fishing From the Treasure Island Area?
Pick the trip that fits your group instead of simply choosing the longest option.
Inshore Fishing
Fish Tampa Bay in generally more protected water with shorter runs and light-tackle opportunities around flats, mangroves, passes, bridges, and docks.
- Excellent fit for families and beginners
- Shorter runs than offshore fishing
- Snook, redfish, trout, seasonal tarpon, snapper, and more
- Half-day and 3/4-day options
Offshore & Deep Sea Fishing
Head into open Gulf water to fish reefs, wrecks, ledges, hard bottom, and seasonal offshore opportunities. Longer trips give Captain Pablo more time and flexibility.
- Four-, six-, eight-, and ten-hour trips
- Grouper, snapper, kingfish, cobia, hogfish, and more
- Bottom fishing, trolling, drifting, or jigging when appropriate
- Designed for groups comfortable in open Gulf water

What Can You Catch Near Treasure Island?
The target changes throughout the year. Weather, regulations, water temperature, tide, bait, and fish movement all affect the plan.
Inshore Species
Tampa Bay can provide a wide mix of light-tackle fishing around grass flats, mangroves, docks, bridges, channels, and passes.
Offshore Gulf Species
Offshore trips focus on Gulf structure and seasonal opportunities rather than promising a fixed species or distance.
Who Runs Your Treasure Island Area Fishing Charter?
Captain Pablo Koch-Schick
Captain Pablo has run Reel Coquina charters since 2015. He builds each trip around the forecast, water conditions, season, tide, group experience, and target species.
First-time anglers get patient instruction, while experienced guests can focus on specific techniques and more technical fishing.
Pathfinder 22 V + Orion 29
The Pathfinder 22 V is the dedicated inshore platform for Tampa Bay fishing. The Orion 29 handles Reel Coquina's four-, six-, eight-, and ten-hour offshore trips.
This makes the trip choice clearer: Pathfinder for shallow-water and inshore fishing, Orion for Gulf fishing.
Planning Your Fishing Day
Your vacation rental or hotel does not need to be next to the marina. Book the trip that fits your group, then travel to the confirmed departure point.
Book online and plan your drive to O'Neill's Marina before your scheduled departure.
Guests staying around John's Pass and Madeira Beach use the same Reel Coquina departure point.

No. Reel Coquina serves guests staying in Treasure Island, but charters depart from O'Neill's Marina at 6701 Sunshine Skyway Lane South in St. Petersburg.
How much does a Treasure Island fishing charter cost?
Current inshore rates are $600 for a half day and $800 for a 3/4 day. Offshore Orion 29 trips are $900 for four hours, $1,250 for six hours, $1,600 for eight hours, and $1,900 for ten hours.
Should we choose inshore or offshore fishing?
Inshore fishing is generally better suited to families, beginners, shorter trips, and guests who prefer more protected water. Offshore fishing is for groups that want Gulf reefs, wrecks, hard bottom, and broader seasonal targets.
Are these trips good for children?
Yes. Private inshore trips and shorter outings can work particularly well for children. Share ages and any special needs with Captain Pablo before booking.
Do we need fishing licenses?
No separate recreational saltwater license is normally needed while fishing aboard Reel Coquina's licensed charter vessel. Charter license coverage is included.
What fish can we catch?
Possible inshore species include snook, redfish, trout, tarpon, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, and Spanish mackerel. Offshore targets may include grouper, red snapper, hogfish, kingfish, cobia, amberjack, and other Gulf species depending on season and conditions.
How far offshore will we go?
There is no fixed distance. Captain Pablo chooses the safest and most productive plan based on trip length, forecast, conditions, season, and fishing goals.
Are the charters private?
Yes. Reel Coquina charters are private for your group rather than shared with unrelated guests.
What happens if the weather is unsafe?
Captain Pablo makes the safety call. If conditions prevent the trip, Reel Coquina will work to reschedule or refund the deposit under its current weather policy.
